Welcome to Student Financial Services
Edmonds Community College believes every person should have the opportunity to achieve their educational goals regardless of financial circumstances. Financial aid helps students offset college costs.
However, the student and his or her family are also expected to contribute to educational costs through earnings, assets, savings, and even by borrowing against future earnings. It is important to plan early for the expenses associated with a college education. Financial aid forms and assistance are available from Student Financial Services.
FINANCIAL AID OFFICE INFORMATION
SUMMER QUARTER 2009

Updated: July 1, 2009
The Financial Aid Office is currently experiencing a severe backlog in file processing. Please note the following regarding our revised hours, processing of files, and petitions:
- We will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 1 and 2, the first week of Summer quarter.
- Starting 7/6/09 the office will have the following revised hours.
- 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Monnday
- 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Tue., Wed., & Thurs.
- CLOSED Friday
- If you call the office, we may be unable to answer due to the high volume of calls we are receiving. Please leave a message and we will return your call within 2 business days. Please understand that the time we are taking to answer calls, and respond to voice mail and email severely impacts our ability to process files and petitions.
- Regarding Petitions for Reinstatement of aid and Petitions to go beyond the 125% credit limitation:
- All petitions are being evaluated on an ongoing basis.
- Notifications in response to petitions will be sent out by mail.
- Regarding the processing of files:
- If your file was completed by May 11, you have been given a tuition delay of payment for Summer quarter.
- This may mean that you may attend your classes until your file is processed, but you may need to purchase your own books.
- Files completed after May 11th will be processed in the order they were completed
- Delays of payment are not available for students completing their files after May 11.
- If you wish to turn in documents during a time when the office is closed, you may do so at the Information Desk or the Enrollment Services Counter on the first floor of Lynnwood Hall. You also may fax your documents to 425.640.1159.
The processing difficulties we are experiencing are directly related to our new software system. The functionality of our office has been greatly reduced and the time it takes to process a file has been tripled.
We apologize for the frustration and difficulties this has created for our students and ask for your patience as we address these issues. Rest assured that we are working nearly round the clock and are processing as quickly as we can.
Financial Aid Deadlines Matter
Start early. Funds are limited and awarded to eligible students based on the date financial aid paperwork is completed. The earlier you complete your financial aid file, the more funds are available, and the more likely you are to have funds in place in time to pay tuition and buy your books. Applications are processed in the order they are received beginning in early June.
May 1: Receive priority consideration for the summer, fall, winter or spring quarters for all the aid available.
August 1: Secondary Consideration. Financial aid may not be awarded before tuition is due for fall quarter if your file is not completed before August 1. You’ll have to pay your own tuition and fees and be reimbursed if you are later found to be eligible for financial assistance.
Winter or Spring Quarters: If you plan to start school winter or spring quarter, you should complete your file as early as possible, preferably by May 1, but absolutely three weeks before the beginning of the quarter in which you plan to start.
